Brent Crawford is quickly establishing himself among the important Canadian guitarists of his generation. Winner at the Great Lakes International Guitar Competition, the inaugural Hamilton International Guitar Competition, and the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals’ National Music Competition, his career has included performances at the Mediterranean Guitar Festival in Cervo, Italy, the Sauble Beach Guitar Festival, the TEDx talk in Algonquin Park, as a featured soloist with the University of Toronto Guitar Orchestra, and an on-stage role in the UTSO’s production of the Donizetti opera Don Pasquale.
Brent’s current doctoral research at the University of Toronto is concerned with promoting performance excellence for classical guitarists. Specifically, his research is concerned with adopting methods and techniques from athletics to form a more rounded, multifaceted approach to performance preparation. Brent maintains a busy teaching schedule with his private studio, is active as both a soloist and a chamber musician, and also finds opportunity for community outreach in the Greater Toronto Area. Brent performs on a 2009 guitar by Paulino Bernabé.
