Douglas Von Edelmann

Douglas Von Edelman

Canadian Lyric Tenor, Douglas Von Edelmann, is known for his shimmering, velvety vocal timbre, and artistic, interpretive style from baroque to modern repertoire.

Contact Douglas:

His debonair, charismatic, and youthful magnetism on stage is reflected in his performances illuminated with a clarion tone that illustrates innate beauty, elegance and intelligence. Coupled with his vocal artistry and exibility are acting abilities that bring an outstanding, instinctive naturalness to his appearances in operatic roles.

He has made extensive concert appearances with conductors including Sir Roger Norrington, Christoph Spering, Rolf Beck, Vincent La Selva, Peter Oundjian and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Combined with his performance experience are his studies in vocal pedagogy and diagnostic work in the physiology of the human voice as he continues his extensive studies in Canada, USA, England, and Germany.

He teaches both voice and piano, adjudicates for music competitions, and is also an accomplished pianist, composer and former international Irish dancing champion.

Jesse began studying violin with Sheila nearly 5 years ago, and has made steady progress from day 1. Sheila is flexible with her teaching style and is positive, patient and understanding. She challenges him, and always provides good guidance and advice. Jesse greatly appreciates that she asks him for his opinion about both his playing and repertoire, helping him develop his ear, self-confidence, and engagement in his learning. The school’s twice-yearly recitals provide us with the opportunity to perform together (with me accompanying him) – a special experience for us both.
