Mary Kenedi, a Hungarian-born pianist, made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1983. She holds a Licentiate Diploma, a Bachelor of Music in Performance, and a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Toronto. Additionally, she has a diploma from the Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary.
Mary has an extensive teaching career spanning 54 years. She has taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music for 25 years, where she also served on the board of examiners, and spent 8 years teaching at McMaster University in Hamilton. Her teaching journey began at the University Settlement.
Her studies at the world-renowned Liszt Academy encompassed both pedagogy and performance, and she also studied the Kodály method, an excellent introductory approach for beginners.
Mary is renowned for her performances and recordings of Bartók as well as works by Canadian composers. She has also commissioned pieces from Canadian composers. She performs internationally, both as a soloist and in concerto appearances. Her extensive experience as an examiner and performer gives her a unique perspective on teaching, from beginner levels to university students.
